Graham Irwin: My music

Here is a selection of videos of some of my music (latest additions first). My musical taste is mostly, but not exclusively, British and Irish folk, both traditional and contemporary. I have taken inspiration from Steeleye Span, John Kirkpatrick, Ian Campbell, John Conolly, Shirley Collins, The Albion Band, Fairport Convention, Strawhead, Martin Carthy and many others. I shall be adding a new video each week.

More recently I have been creating music tracks for meditation, relaxation, massage, yoga and therapy, as well as creating electronic pieces. These are included here, too.

Happy Days - A 5-minute (almost) track for meditation, relaxation, massage, yoga or therapy. (4:50) : Watch on YouTube

The Great Gate Of Kyiv - Modeste Mussorgsky's The Great Gate Of Kyiv, from Pictures At An Exhibition played using a variety of synthesised instruments and effects. (7:10) : Watch on YouTube

Jesu Joy Of Man's Desiring - Jesu Joy Of Man's Desiring from JS Bach's cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147, played on synthesised instruments. (2:51) : Watch on YouTube

The Lonesome Scenes Of Winter - A rather sad and somewhat confused traditional song from America. (3:27) : Watch on YouTube

Cool Bananas - Not just another banana, this is Cool Bananas. Composed and played on an MPK mini midi keyboard. Dedicated to my friend Jolly. (3:07) : Watch on YouTube

Casadh An tSúgáin - Twisting of the Rope. A traditional Irish tune and love song. (2:25) : Watch on YouTube

My Arm's A Banana - What can I say, the title just came to me. This piece is a tad different from anything else I've done. Composed and played on my new gizmo. (2:01) : Watch on YouTube

Trumpet Voluntary - Trumpet Voluntary in D Major by John Stanley. (3:47) : Watch on YouTube

My Girl Ain't No Maggot - At last, I've written a song! It's not quite the romantic ballad or protest song, but there's no accounting for inspiration‽ In this case, inspiration came from herself who, when I called her favourite puss a maggot for scragging the furniture, squealed - well you don't need me to finish the sentence, do you... (1:19) : Watch on YouTube

Kemp's Jig - Written for Will Kemp, a 16th century actor and dancer, who, for a bet, danced from London to Norwich, a feat which took him 9 days over a period of several weeks. (3:17) : Watch on YouTube
