Roger Carr, aka Roger Vaughan Carr, first published in 1957 in the Sydney (Australia) Bulletin; a humorous short story entitled "The Aristocratic Ram".
He followed this with many other humorous short stories in various magazines, moving generally to children’s short stories in various magazines—both in Australia and the UK—but increasingly for the Victorian (Australia) education department’s school magazines.
"Surfie", his first and only general novel was published c. 1959.
His many novels for teenagers make up about a quarter of the 60 or so children’s books he has published over the years, with "The Split Creek Kids" and "Firestorm!" both being short-listed for Australian children’s books of the year awards, and his picture book with Ann James, "The Butterfly", a fictional representation of chaos theory, being nominated a "significant book of the year".
Roger has also written for television, radio and film with adaptations of his own works; as well as general and columnist journalism.
He is now working in the the new field of electronic books (and is Editor-in-Chief of the MightyBook Corporation in Houston, Texas, an ebook publisher), whilst still writing for children himself.
