Shira by

This fable is an allegory of the spiritual journey. Two brothers, Bara and Bild, race in search of the magical horse Shira. Bara uses wit and intelligence to work out which way to move forward. Bild, who is stronger relies on his strength. The brothers are separated and make their individual journeys alone, but are eventually reunited. In the end their personal resources of foresight and strength are rendered useless. By a process of gradual surrender they eventually find Shira. Only then can they find their way home.
Tommy Comes Home by William Stewart
Tommy, orphaned during the Clydebank blitz, is adopted by his uncle and aunt who are farmers. Tommy’s new-found friends and the animals on the farm all help in the healing of his emotional scars. Living on the edge of the moors he almost dies in a blizzard, but learns some important lessons. A bright boy, Tommy wins a scholarship to a prestigious academy.

John decides to take a year’s sabbatical to hunt for the treasure. The hunt takes him all over Scotland, and several times his life is in danger.
